The New Jersey State Bar Association’s (NJSBA) fall season is about to begin and it’s packed with all sorts of special events, including anniversary and award receptions, section dinners, and networking opportunities. A highlight will be the Mid-Year Meeting in Puerto Rico.

September is filled with a number of notable activities, including the New Jersey Lawyers Assistance Program’s 25th anniversary dinner on Sept. 12. The New Jersey State Bar Foundation (NJSBF) will hold its Medal of Honor Awards dinner on Sept. 16. Ralph J. Lamparello, treasurer of the NJSBF and a past president of the NJSBA, and Shirley Berger Whitenack, an NJSBA trustee, will receive the awards, the NJSBF’s highest honor.

On Sept. 24, the Lawyers Feeding New Jersey campaign kicks off with a special event at the Community FoodBank’s headquarters in Hillside. Members can tour the facility and attend a reception, featuring a comedy set by Assemblyman Jon Bramnick.

The NJSBF will launch a month-long art show of work by members of the legal profession with a reception on Sept. 26 at the New Jersey Law Center. All are welcome to join the artists and view their work. Prior to the reception, the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education will present its 6th Annual Art Law Symposium, titled Raiders of the Lost Art: The Hunt for Nazi-Looted Art in America.

October’s social calendar begins with the 18th Annual Chancery Judges Reception on Oct. 2. A shredding party will be held on Oct. 6 at the Law Center. On Oct. 19, members can watch one of the country’s oldest steeplechase races with the Young Lawyers Division at its tailgate party at the Far Hills Race Meeting. On Oct. 23, the New Jersey Commission on Professionalism in the Law will honor members of the legal community at its awards luncheon. And the annual Pro Bono Award Reception will be held Oct. 24.

The season also brings two special events in November. The Mid-Year Meeting will be held Nov. 6–Nov. 10 in Puerto Rico, and the annual Diverse Judges Reception will be Nov. 20.
