The New Jersey State Bar Association’s General Council is seeking candidates who want to be considered for a spot on the group that helps review and select leadership candidates for association.

Any General Council member who wants to be considered for a two-year term on the association’s Nominating Committee must file a petition signed by no fewer than 10 members of the council. Petitions are due Sept. 25. Candidates from Morris County are not permitted this year. Information about candidates, including video statements and biographical information will be posted online when the filing deadline passes.

Voting for the seat will be administered electronically by a third-party group. Voting is open to General Council members only.

The association’s General Council is a body comprised of leaders of the association, New Jersey State Bar Foundation, and county and diversity bar associations. The group makes recommendations to the association’s Board of Trustees on matters affecting the membership and the legal community.
