The New Jersey State Bar Foundation (NJSBF)’s biggest event of the year, the Annual Medal of Honor Awards Dinner Reception, will be held Monday, Sept. 17, at the Palace at Somerset Park in Somerset.
The award is the foundation’s highest honor, and is given each year to those who have made exemplary contributions to improving the justice system and enhancing New Jersey’s legal legacy. This year’s recipients are Linda R. Feinberg, a retired superior court assignment judge in Mercer County, and Justin P. Walder, a partner at Pashman Stein Walder and Hayden.
“Both our awardees this year are exemplars of leadership and integrity,” said Susan Feeney, president of the NJSBF. “I look forward to celebrating their impressive careers with New Jersey’s legal community on Sept. 17.”
Feeney noted that this year’s event is particularly special because it marks the 60th anniversary of the foundation. “The Medal of Honor dinner gives us an opportunity to honor excellence in our profession while also raising the crucial funds that support the work the foundation has been doing for six decades to foster an informed and better citizenry,” she said.
Walder and Feinberg were named this year’s honorees by the NJSBF Board of Trustees. Feeney assumed leadership of the board in June. Executive board members include Norberto A. Garcia, first vice president; Kathleen N. Fennelly, second vice president; Charles J. Stoia, treasurer and Ralph J. Lamparello, secretary; and former NJSBF President Lynne Newsome.
Both honorees expressed gratitude to the foundation for their selection.
“Over the years, as a lawyer and as a judge, I have worked to honor the dignity of the profession of law, to foster professional excellence, to treat clients and litigants with patience and respect, and to provide services to the legal community and to the community at large,” Feinberg said. “I am one of so many lawyers and judges in this state who, each day, follow the same principles and apply the highest standards of our profession. I extend my thanks and appreciation to the foundation for selecting me as one of this year's recipients.”
Walder said, “I am honored and humbled to receive this award. I credit the extraordinary team at Pashman Stein Walder Hayden. They provide tremendous resources, and I am blessed to be part of an amazing group of attorneys who are truly dedicated to justice and the practice of law in keeping with the highest standards of our profession. To receive this honor from the New Jersey State Bar Foundation is one of the proudest moments of my career.”
