The New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA) Young Lawyers Division is launching a monthly lunch-and-learn series geared to attorneys who are new to the practice of law.

“The goal is to cover topics at a 10,000-foot level so we have enough information to know when to seek out additional advice,” YLD Chair Emily Kelchen said.

The programs will cover topics such as financial planning and insurance, marketing and business development, and common legal issues like estate planning and traffic tickets.

The series begins Nov. 16 with a program titled “Time Management, Work/Life Balance and Mental Health During COVID-19.” The program will be held from 12 p.m.- 1 p.m. and is for section members only.

The second program, titled “Look Mom, I Made It! Now What? A Young Lawyer’s Guide to ‘Insuring’ Their Financial Health,” will be held from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. Nov. 24. The program is free to NJSBA members and $15 for nonmembers.

“We think the peer-to-peer format of these programs will benefit speakers and attendees who are interested in educating themselves and building a network without sitting through a sales pitch,” she said.
