Contested Guardianships

Seeking guardianship for an incapacitated person can result in a contested proceeding if there is a dispute over the ward's capacity or who should serve as guardian. Even after a guardian is appointed, the guardian may find themselves being scrutinized by others who are second guessing their decisions or finding improprieties in the way they are handling the ward's affairs.

Sometimes you can't avoid litigation. This program is designed to show you what to do when
the matter is contested and ends up in the courts. You'll come away with the skills and
knowledge you need to represent your clients, and will hear the judicial perspective from a sitting superior court judge. The panel will also provide an update on recent cases and other
developments that impact on guardians and those representing them. What you learn can
