Overview of the Professional Assistance Program of New Jersey
The presentation will provide attendees with an understanding of the structure of the Professional Assistance Program of New Jersey (“PAPNJ”) and how cases are handled within the PAPNJ as well as with the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners. The attendees will learn how to better assist impaired physicians who are enrolled in or who should seek enrollment on the PAPNJ. The attendees will also obtain an understanding of the immunity protections for physicians as well as their medical practices in connection with referrals to and enrollment in the PAPNJ.
Just as a note: This program is critical for health law attorneys in New Jersey to understand as they must be prepared to deal with clients who must enroll in the PAPNJ as well as to the requirements for reporting an impaired physician in New Jersey.
