NJICLE honors attorneys and judges for CLE contributions
NEW BRUNSWICK -- Two jurists and three attorneys were honored this week for their contributions to excellence in continuing legal education.
The New Jersey State Bar Association’s educational arm, the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education (NJICLE), will honor the group on Dec. 7 at the New Jersey Law Center for their volunteer efforts leading and developing seminars that have helped make the institute the state’s leading continuing legal education provider, reaching over 70,000 people a year.
Assignment Judge Peter F. Bariso, who sits in Jersey City, was named this year’s Alfred C. Clapp Award winner for achievement in continuing legal education. The award is the institute’s highest honors and recognizes those who have a long history of significant service in the field of continuing legal education. Bariso has created or taken part in dozens of continuing legal education seminars on a variety of civil trial topics in the past 20 years.
In addition to Bariso, several others received Distinguished Service Awards. They were:
Judge Hany Mawla, who is a frequent lecturer and has spoken on a variety of subjects from bullying to practicing in the special civil part to family law matters.
Arnold Shep Cohen, of Oxfeld Cohen in Newark, who has been a speaker, moderator and champion of labor and employment programming.
Michael Ferrara Jr. of The Ferrera Law Firm in Cherry Hill, has been a leader in programming in the area of civil trial issues.
Debra E. Guston, of Guston & Guston in Glen Rock, who has spoken at more than 20 seminars in the past four years on topics ranging from family law matters to tax planning and adoption to issues relating the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights.
