The NJSBA's Board of Trustees held its July meeting to discuss legislation, set a possible site for the 2019 Mid-Year Meeting and more.
The Board of Trustees is the policy-making body of the association. The 49-member body analyzes information from association sections and committees when determining the policy position or advocacy role the NJSBA will play in a matter.
The board granted its support to A2318/S1860, which provides immunity from civil and criminal liability for rescue of an animal from a vehicle under inhumane conditions. The bill is awaiting Gov. Phil Murphy’s signature.
The trustees also approved the selection of Puerto Rico as the likely site of the 2019 Mid-Year Meeting. The island is believed to be a good location because it is affordable and relatively easy to get to. If it is approved, the association plans to organize a public service activity for attendees to participate in that will benefit island residents still suffering in the wake of last year’s hurricanes.
