  1. My Kid's Not Playing Football: Legal Issues Surrounding Concussions in Sports: MAY 17, 2017 - The EASL Section is excited to be hosting this program with the Diversity Committee at the Annual Convention.  In this program, legal and medical experts will explore the liability issues of youth and professional sports including a discussion of the diagnosis and treatment of concussions. The second half of the program will be a discussion with counsel representing plaintiffs in the NFL concussion injury litigation suit by former NFL players against the league. Kenneth E. Sharperson, Esq., Co-Chair of the Diversity Committee, will serve as the moderator of this panel. Speakers include: Timothy D. Cedrone, Esq., former EASL Chair, Apruzzese McDermott Mastro & Murphy, P.C., Liberty Corner; Mark Granger, Esq., Granger Legal Consulting; Hosea H. Harvey, Associate Professor of Law, Temple University School of Law; and Cailyn Reilly, Esq., Baker Botts, LLP, Washington, DC
  2. Intellectual Property Protection & Enforcement. This program will take place during the NJSBA Annual Convention (Wednesday, May 17, 2017, 1pm) at the Borgata Casino in Atlantic City, NJ. Speakers include Ronald Bienstock, current Vice-Chair David Gold as well as Past Chairs Gary Laurie and Laura Magedoff. Registration and other information about the program is available on the NJSBA website in conjunction with their Annual Convention materials.

The NJSBA has scheduled the aforementioned Concussions in Sports CLE in the morning session of the first day (May 17th) of the Annual Convention, and the Intellectual Property CLE will be held during the afternoon session on the same day.  Immediately after the IP program, the EASL Section will have its Annual Business Meeting, where we will hold elections, elicit feedback from members, and brainstorm ideas with the input of the entire Section.  Therefore, if you are hesitant to sign up for all 3 days of the Convention, please consider signing up for just the first day - May 17th.  We hope to see you all there!

 

  1. Media Content Counselors Roundtable focusing on the day-to-day activities of in-house counsel, outside counsel and marketing departments who counsel organizations regarding their media content across various entertainment industries. The program will take place from 6:00-8:10pm on September 19, 2017 at the offices of Scarinci Hollenbeck in Lyndhurst NJ. Speakers include Kathleen Conkey (Law Office of Kathleen Conkey), Lance McPherson (Viacom/MTV), George Dassinger (Dassinger Creative Services) and Ronald Bienstock (Scarinci Hollenbeck).
