Simplified Process for Small Charities to Apply to IRS for Recognition of Exemption as Nonprofits

On July 1, 2014, the IRS introduced a new, shorter application form to help small charities apply for 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status more easily. We look forward to working with our clients in the nonprofit sector to see if this is a viable option for them in securing recognition of exemption and hope that this initiative will help reduce overall delays in processing of our clients' Form 1023s.
