Donald Sterling May Accept NBA’s Ruling in an Effort to Avoid Lawsuit
Although Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling has already received a lifetime ban from the NBA, Mr. Sterling stated during Monday’s interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper that he did not believe the league and its owners wanted him to simply give up ownership, as he is a self-proclaimed “good owner.”  He also indicated an intention to work with the league and perhaps accept whatever judgment is rendered by the other owners regarding the forced sale of the Clippers.  Mr. Sterling reinforced his intention to avoid litigation by stating that “[p]eople want me to hire a wall of lawyers and [the NBA] to have to hire a wall of lawyers and go to war.  I don’t think that’s the answer.”

Sterling’s Estranged Wife Looking to Pursue Criminal Charges Against Mistress V. Stiviano
Shelly Sterling has been married to the LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling for over 50 years and has reportedly witnessed her husband shower his mistress, V. Stiviano, with lavish gifts.  Mrs. Sterling not only wants the value of such gifts returned, but she fully intends to pursue criminal charges if she can demonstrate that she was recorded, without her permission, by Ms. Stiviano.  As Radar Online reports, Ms. Stiviano may possess certain recordings of Mrs. Sterling “cursing like a longshoreman.”
A source for Radar Online explained, “You can’t just go around tape-recording people in California without their permission. Whatever arrangement Donald had with [V.], about tape-recording, it doesn’t apply to Shelly. Shelly has a reasonable expectation of privacy, even if she was around more than one person. California has very strict laws concerning privacy.”  California’s wiretapping laws will certainly be involved in any such case.

Mrs. Sterling also claims that Mr. Sterling has dementia, which could be a factor regarding whatever arrangement he allegedly had V. Stiviano regarding the recording. http://ftw.usatoday.com/2014/05/shelly-sterling-today-show
